overview
this is an unclassified, non-civil service, hourly position with no medical, dental or accrued leave benefits, with the exception of ab1522 - healthy workplace healthy family act.
essential functions- ensures department services are provided with exceptional customer service and the highest level of ethical standards.
- performs hillside brush clearance, weed abatement, landscaping, debris clearance and other general labor tasks on private and public property.
- may also perform general office work.
- uses and/or supervises the use of power and hand tools; the hauling and dumping of debris; and the maintenance of tools and equipment.
- works weekday, evening and weekend hours.
- transports youth apprentices in city vehicles; facilitates staff meetings; prepares and reports time sheets and other paperwork.
- evaluates subordinate staff; performs other related duties as required.
- assumes responsibility for ensuring the duties of the position are performed in a safe efficient manner.
- performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation requires.
one year of recent supervisory experience, preferably in the supervision of youth.
education & traininggraduation from high school or attainment of ged or chspe certificate and completion of 30 semester units of college work.
license(s)/certification(s)- valid class c california driver's license.
- must obtain cpr certification within six months of employment.
- basic first aid and cpr certification; valid california commercial drivers license, class b.
- provide exceptional customer service practices to those using the services of the community services & parks department.
- adapt to changing work assignments.
- comprehend directions in english.
- effectively supervise others.
- establish and maintain smooth working relationships and independently resolve interpersonal conflicts.
- establish and maintain smooth working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
