Position Purpose

Safeguards hotel property, assets, guests, visitors, and staff. Patrols the property, monitors surveillance equipment, inspects buildings and access points, and supports overnight hotel activities during closed hours, including vehicle parking, food orders to guest rooms, delivery of roll‑away beds, and various service requests. Provides maintenance support to the hotel facilities.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Patrol hotel property to ensure the safety of guests and staff and protect all hotel assets.
  • Conduct walkthroughs of the entire hotel premises to identify signs of intrusion and ensure doors, windows, and gates are secured.
  • Respond to alarms, investigate disturbances, and conduct investigations, gather evidence, and facilitate interviews with relevant parties.
  • Listen to and respond to all guest needs and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Report all suspicious activity and hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of work areas at all times.
  • Practice safe work habits to avoid injury to self and others.
  • Log daily activities and irregularities, including equipment or property damage, theft, unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences, and prepare daily shift reports.
  • Support the front desk as needed by answering telephone calls, taking messages, and providing information.
  • Enforce property rules with guests and staff in a professional and courteous manner, and follow protocol for warning or removing violators.
  • Initiate contact with emergency services in emergency situations and implement the crisis management plan.
  • Assist guests and staff in evacuating property and securing the building by following safety protocols.
  • Perform minor and routine maintenance tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related activities using hand tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for guest rooms (vinyl repair, paint touch‑ups, furniture repair, tub caulking, tile repairs, etc.), and for equipment such as ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen, laundry, HVAC, guestrooms, meeting rooms, swimming pool, and hot tub.
  • Repair and maintain laundry equipment, exhaust fans, supply units, and monitor energy conservation practices.
  • Replace air‑conditioner filters and repair vacuum cleaners and other small equipment as requested.
  • Use lockout/tagout procedures before performing maintenance work.
  • Notify management regarding required major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, or ventilating equipment.
  • Perform other tasks, including cross‑training, as directed by manager or supervisor.
Physical Demands
  • Noise and vibration within the job area shall be sufficient to cause marked distraction or potential injury to hearing or to the body when sustained day after day.
  • Work may be conducted inside or outside the hotel under moderate temperature controlled by the HVAC system.
  • Stand and move well‑paced for up to four hours during a shift.
  • Navigate between departments and locations throughout the hotel promptly.
  • Perform bending, stooping, squatting, and stretching to complete cleaning or maintenance tasks occasionally.
  • Operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi‑line phones, filing cabinets, fax machines, photocopiers, and dolly.
  • Lift up to 75 lbs. occasionally and push or pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally.
  • Perform repetitive motions, handle manual dexterity to use hand tools, and maintain visual acuity for near and color vision, depth perception, and continuous sight.
