THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION (9 MONTHS OR LESS) – PAYING $19.00-$20.000 PER HOUR. EMPLOYMENT STARTS 04/27/2026 THROUGH 10/31/2026. This posting is for both LEAD and GENERAL Watercraft Inspector & Decontaminator roles. In supplemental questions please specify which you are applying for. Location:
Lake San Cristobal near Lake City, Colorado. Responsibilities include performing boat inspection and decontamination according to state regulations and standard protocols, with focus on invasive species such as zebra/quagga mussels. Training will be provided. Early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work required.
General Inspector
- Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Lake San Cristobal near Lake City, Colorado. Work may be completed independently or in pairs to inspect boats launching and leaving the lake, with respect to invasive species.
- Provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species by distributing printed material to visitors.
Lead Inspector
- Perform boat inspector and decontaminator responsibilities according to state regulations and standard protocols at Lake San Cristobal. Lead inspector will provide on-the-job training, create schedules, and ensure all shifts are covered during operational hours.
- Collect and verify accurate timekeeping records for payroll; maintain inventory of required supplies; assist with interviewing candidates.
- Collaborate with supervisor to resolve staff and customer challenges; ensure station staff follow standardized protocols; ensure data entry is performed accurately and completely by all staff.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting on power washer/decontamination unit; provide public outreach on aquatic invasive species.
Note:
Early morning, evening, weekend, and holiday work is required for both roles.
- Reliable transportation and ability to work weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late evenings.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Reliable and timely; ability to self-motivate and work independently.
- Experience working with boats, trailers, power washers, small engines and/or heavy equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills and/or experience working with the public.
