Specific Job Information:Work schedule for this position is typically Monday
- Friday with 8-hour days. Some Weekend and Holiday work is required during the summer season. Additionally, the Maintenance Team Supervisor is responsible for responding to maintenance needs on an on-call basis which will include weekends, evenings, and nights.
This position requires frequent travel and working conditions in a field setting. Overnight travel is also required and may entail using FWP facilities. Working conditions include working outdoors in all seasons and in unpredictable and inclement weather. The incumbent should be in good overall physical condition and possess sufficient outdoor skills to withstand the rigors and demands of outdoor work and to carry out duties effectively and safely.
Lifting 30-50 pounds is commonly required.
The Glendive Maintenance Team Supervisor is part of the Parks and Outdoor Recreation Division and a member of the Region 7 maintenance team. In coordination with the Region 7 Maintenance Manager, Stewardship Bureau Chief, and regional staff, the position directly and through subordinates identifies maintenance needs, establishes workflows for regular and routine tasks, and assists in establishing priorities for major maintenance projects.
The position overseas and participates in personnel management of maintenance staff, including Maintenance Worker 2,1 and Groundskeeper positions, and performs and oversees recordkeeping of maintenance activities.
The incumbent is responsible for conducting, coordinating, overseeing, and inspecting work performed; maintaining, repairing, and constructing buildings and facilities; and managing equipment fleets in a proactive, sustainable manner. Maintenance oversight responsibilities include: facility maintenance such as repairs of heating/cooling systems, replacing light fixtures, painting ; infrastructure maintenance such as drinking water distribution, vault latrines, historic sites and structures; campgrounds, picnic shelters, pedestrian bridges;
boat docks and ramps; solid rail and wire fences; paved and gravel roadways and parking areas; paved and aggregate surfaced trails; directional, information, and interpretive signs/kiosks; and maintenance shop facilities and other associated infrastructure and equipment.
Skills:
Understanding of weed management methods (chemical, biological, and mechanical) and ability to operate as a licensed applicator
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, and Service Now
Working knowledge of general maintenance and construction practices, including carpentry, plumbing, welding, electrical work, and engine repair
Strong knowledge of safety protocols, traffic regulations, PPE use, proper towing procedures, and the ability to train staff accordingly
Experience using and maintaining a range of tools and heavy/light construction equipment, along with the ability to train staff in equipment operation
Demonstrating strong supervisory skills, including conducting employee performance reviews, implementing performance improvement plans, and supporting staff development
Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through a combination of education and experience equivalent to a 2-year degree/training in maintenance, Industrial Arts, Natural Resource Management, Engineering Technology, Mechanics, Land Management, or a related field and/or at least 5 years of general facilities
