Guidance Counselor: Social/Educational, Child Development/Support
Purpose
The school social worker works with children, families, teachers, school administrators and the wider community to support the mental and emotional health needs of students. Social Worker demonstrates comprehensive and coherent understanding of the school social work profession and plans and utilizes a variety of intervention strategies that enable students to increasingly make independent sound, informed academic and personal social choices.

QualificationsValid Illinois PEL, Master's Degree Required
ResponsibilitiesProvision of Direct Services
- Counseling support for students—both individual and skills group
- Risk assessment and crisis support
- Providing consultation and training to staff and parents as needed
- Providing training and consultation for parents and staff as needed
- Participating in the development and implementation of mental health preventative strategies
- Other duties assigned to support the provision of direct services
Supporting efforts to build a responsive system through MTSS
- Demonstrating an understanding of individual and group counseling techniques
- Participating in building based and district level MTSS activities
- Engaging in SEL Data Day activities as part of the a larger MTSS system
- Selecting appropriate assessment instruments
- Conducting assessments appropriately
- Other duties assigned to support a responsive MTSS system
Designing Individualized Educational Programs
- Developing individualized goals and objectives based on assessment results providing long-range student planning
- Fully participating in the IEP process
- Other duties as assigned to support legally compliant IEPs
Case Management
- Participating with the building Student Services Team
- Monitoring implementation of student I.E.P.s
- Managing and coordinating required paperwork
- Other duties assigned to support effective case management
Full-time (1.0 FTE), 10-month position starting August 2026 through early June 2027. Certified Staff work 185 days per school year.
FLSA Status: Exempt
