ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

? Design and deliver individual, group, classroom, and school wide prevention services, including crisis response.
? Develop measurable goals aligned with SEL standards and student needs.
? Apply research-based counseling, intervention, and behavior-support practices.
? Create student schedules that minimize disruption to instructional time.
? Participate in MTSS intervention planning, problem-solving, and progress monitoring.
? Organize and maintain safe, welcoming spaces for counseling and SEL instruction.
? Complete all required documentation for 504 plans, MTSS, crisis intervention, and student progress.
? Model effective communication, empathy, conflict resolution, and prosocial behaviors.
? Use proactive, trauma-informed strategies to support student well-being and maintain safety.
? Establish clear expectations and routines for counseling groups and SEL settings.
? Conduct SEL, behavioral, developmental, and social-emotional assessments.
? Use evidence-based strategies to strengthen emotional regulation, coping skills, and peer relationships.
? Design structured SEL and counseling activities aligned to student goals and outcomes.
? Determine the appropriate service format-individual, group, classroom, or consultative-based on student needs.
? Communicate regularly with families to share progress, strategies, and resources.
? Collaborate with teachers, case managers, student services teams, and administrators.
? Provide counseling for emotional, social, behavioral, and school adjustment concerns.
? Connect students and families with community agencies, mental health supports, and external resources.
? Participate in crisis prevention, intervention, threat/risk assessment, and postvention processes.
? Support school wide initiatives in SEL, wellness, and mental health.
? Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely records in compliance with legal and district requirements.
? Demonstrate professionalism, cultural responsiveness, confidentiality, and ethical practice at all times.
? Engage in professional learning aligned with district priorities and emerging student needs.
? Perform additional duties as assigned to support students and the school community.
Essential Duties:
? Provide individual and small-group counseling to support students' social, emotional, behavioral, and academic development.
? Coordinate and oversee the development, implementation, and annual review of Section 504 plans to ensure compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
? Facilitate 504 eligibility meetings and collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to determine appropriate accommodations and supports.
? Monitor the implementation of 504 plans and provide guidance to staff regarding accommodations and instructional supports.
? Coordinate Tier 1 social-emotional screeners (such as Elyssa's Mission or other district-adopted tools), including scheduling, administration, data review, and communication of results.
? Analyze screening and student data to identify trends and collaborate with school teams to determine appropriate Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions.
? Participate in and support the MTSS/Problem-Solving Team process by helping to identify student needs and recommending interventions and supports.
? Develop and facilitate small-group interventions for students with social-emotional, behavioral, or organizational needs.
? Support classroom teachers by consulting on student behavior, social-emotional learning strategies, and appropriate classroom interventions.
? Assist in crisis response and intervention, including participation in safety planning and supporting students experiencing emotional or behavioral crises.
? Collaborate with social workers, psychologists, special education staff, and administrators to coordinate services and ensure appropriate supports for students.
? Communicate regularly with families regarding student needs, available supports, and strategies to promote student success.
? Support the implementation of district social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives, Tier 1, and Tier 2 prevention programming.
? Maintain accurate documentation and records related to counseling services, interventions, and Section 504 plans.
? Provide professional learning or guidance to staff related to student mental health, SEL strategies, and classroom accommodations.
? Support student transitions between grade levels and schools as needed, including sharing relevant information to ensure continuity of services.
? Serve as a member of building leadership, MTSS, or student support teams and participate in district initiatives related to student wellness and support.
? Maintain professional knowledge through participation in professional development, professional organizations, and collaboration with colleagues.
