Overview
An Instructional Innovation Specialist is needed for the 2026-27 school year (Grades K-2). The role works with teachers and students to facilitate access to information in a variety of formats. They consult, collaborate and co‑teach to increase teacher knowledge and capacity in acquiring, evaluating, and using information and instructional resources, supporting the District 34 Learning Process and curriculum. The specialist differentiates support to educators and students in inquiry, design thinking, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, digital literacy, and other resources.
The ultimate goal is to prepare students to be effective users and synthesizers of ideas and information.
At a district level, Instructional Innovation Specialists collaborate with Library Resource Center Directors and Instructional Coaches to provide district‑wide and building‑level professional development.
Qualifications- Valid Illinois Professional Educator’s License (PEL)
- At least four years of effective teaching experience preferred
- Knowledge of and experience with a broad range of information literacy materials, resources, and practices in K‑8 curriculum areas
- Knowledge of and experience implementing best practices in informational literacy and professional development
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective organizational relationships and work collaboratively with school and district personnel
- Knowledge of adult learning characteristics and effective professional development design
- Ability to coordinate and facilitate professional development experiences for staff at the building and district levels
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
Full‑time (1.0 FTE), 10‑month teaching position starting August 2026 through early June 2027. Certified staff work 185 days per school year.
