EHS Specialist
The EHS Specialist will support the EHS Manager in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating environmental, health, and safety risks to ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role includes performing field inspections, assisting with hazardous waste management, supporting emergency response, and driving site-wide safety initiatives to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in identifying, assessing, and controlling EHS risks across operations; support departments in completing risk assessments and ensure timely implementation of risk-reduction measures.
- Maintain and update EHS management documentation, including safety procedures, emergency response plans, and chemical management programs, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as global company standards.
- Support hazardous waste management, including performing inspections, characterizing waste, managing satellite accumulation areas, and ensuring compliant storage, labeling, and disposal.
- Provide assistance during chemical spill emergencies, coordinating containment, cleanup, and hazardous material disposal in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements.
- Conduct inspections of critical safety equipment—such as fire protection systems, eyewash/shower units, gas detectors, ventilation systems, and emergency response equipment—to ensure functionality and compliance.
- Prepare and lead site EHS onboarding and safety orientation, and support employee training and development activities to promote strong safety awareness and reinforce site safety culture.
Essential
Skills:
- Proficient in safety, health & safety, environmental health, and inspection.
- Familiarity with EPA, EHS, OSHA regulations, and hazardous waste management.
- Experience in hazardous communication, hazardous chemicals management, and compliance.
- Knowledge in quality assurance, FDA, GMP standards, and construction safety.
- Ability to conduct audits and develop safety programs.
Additional Skills &
Qualifications:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, safety management, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience in containment strategies and facility improvements.
- Valid driver's license.
- Proficient skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records.
- Ability to work as a member of a team as well as an individual.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, safety protocols, and waste management practices.
- Experience with Behavior-Based Safety programs.
- Proficiency in field sampling techniques.
Work Environment:
The EHS Specialist will work in diverse settings, including offices, laboratories, and occasionally outdoors. The role involves starting with entry-level tasks such as fire extinguisher checks, safety shower inspections, and team inspections in labs and production areas. Over time, the position will evolve to contribute more to building the entire safety program. The EHS Specialist will support the EHS Director and interact with the global team.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $43.27/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
