Tax Preparer

Description

We are looking for an experienced Tax Preparer to join our team in Des Plaines, Illinois. This is a contract position offering flexible, part-time hours with the potential to transition into a permanent role. The position will focus on assisting clients with personal and small business tax preparation, ensuring compliance and accuracy in filings.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare individual and small business tax returns, including C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietor ships.

- Assist clients with filing tax extensions when necessary.

- Ensure compliance with all tax regulations while maintaining accuracy and efficiency in tax preparation.

- Utilize Drake Tax Software to manage and process tax filings.

- Work with a diverse client base, including approximately 350 clients, with 70% being individual tax returns.

- Provide tax advice and expertise to clients, helping them navigate complex tax situations.

- Collaborate with clients to gather and organize financial documents and records.

- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to provide accurate information.

- Support the team in managing workload during peak tax season.

- Handle sensitive client information with confidentiality and professionalism.

Requirements - Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation, including individual and business tax filings.

- Proficiency in using Drake Tax Software.

- Strong knowledge of tax regulations and compliance requirements for C corporations, S corporations, and partnerships.

- Ability to handle multiple clients and prioritize tasks effectively.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Strong communication skills to interact with clients and address their tax concerns.

- Capacity to work independently and manage flexible hours.

- Professionalism and discretion in handling confidential client information.
