Position Summary

Director, Wealth will lead a team of wealth management professionals within a specific local market and be responsible for three key areas: identifying and generating new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients through a robust growth program; ensuring client satisfaction and retention through the delivery of top‑tier service and full‑service wealth management solutions; and developing, training, and mentoring team members to promote career growth and professional development while fostering relationship‑based skills necessary to deepen and expand client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Commercial and Wealth Management senior leadership to create and implement a sustainable new business development program focused on significant organic growth and a coordinated, team‑based approach.
  • Provide support and guidance to the team, including review and development of proposals and presentations for new business opportunities with prospective clients.
  • Effectively manage and oversee the team’s delivery of wealth management services and solutions in accordance with Busey’s Pillars, the Client Engagement Model, and the Wealth Management Service Blueprint to ensure service excellence and long‑term client retention.
  • Motivate, develop, and coach team members to grow their technical knowledge and relationship‑management skill sets, maximizing value and service delivery to clients.
  • Support career growth and overall professional development through enhanced training, individualized career‑pathing, and performance management.
  • Develop and lead both market‑specific and company‑wide business development initiatives, including driving and championing other revenue‑enhancing activities at the team level as directed by senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with internal partners within Wealth Management to identify new opportunities while expanding wallet share with the existing client base.
  • Foster the development of tailored, goal‑based investment programs and comprehensive financial plans for clients, partnering with the in‑house investment team and financial planning team.
Education and Experience
  • Knowledge of strong sales and client‑service skills; strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven sales success, including prospecting, profiling, overcoming objections, negotiation, team‑selling approach, closing the sale, and asking for referrals.
  • Familiarity with wealth management, planning concepts, and subject areas such as investments, comprehensive financial planning, retirement planning, estate planning, insurance planning, and tax planning.
  • Strong relationship‑management and team‑building skills.
  • Experience planning and implementing client recognition and prospecting events at the team level.
  • Participation in community activities and organizations to support local partnerships and enhance the Busey Wealth Management brand.
  • Compliance with all Bank and Wealth Management policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Collaboration with other lines of business across the Bank to enhance client relationships and identify growth opportunities.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills and the ability to make strategic and independent decisions for the benefit of the team.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5–7 years of wealth management/financial advisory experience; prior team leadership experience preferred.
  • Professional designations such as CFP, CFA, CPA, CTFA, and/or MBA preferred; military experience a plus.
Compensation and Benefits

Salaries are based on job duties, required qualifications, relevant experience, and local market trends. Base pay range: $155,000 – $215,000 annually. The role may be eligible for bonus or incentives based on company and individual performance.
