Precision Mill Set-Up and First Article Machinist

• Own the set-up and operation of CNC milling centers (3-, 4-, and 5-axis) from first piece through production.
• Translate blueprints and GD&T into accurate, efficient setups.
• Install tooling, fixtures, and work offsets to lock in repeatability.
• Load, edit, and prove out G-code to ensure optimal cutting conditions.
• Conduct first article inspections and in-process checks using micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
• Adjust feeds, speeds, and offsets to hold tight tolerances.
• Troubleshoot machining and tooling issues; maintain cleanliness and basic PM.

• 2–5+ years of CNC milling set-up experience
• Strong GD&T and blueprint literacy
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
• Experience with common controls (Fanuc, Haas, etc.)
• Comfort editing G-code at the machine
• Knowledge of tooling, speeds/feeds, and materials (aluminum, steel, plastics)
• Math fundamentals; trigonometry helpful
• High school diploma or trade school certification preferred
