The Patient Care Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practicing Nurse (LPN) and, according to established procedures, performs patient care tasks and procedures necessary to provide for the care, comfort and safety of patients. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age(s) of the patients served on the assigned unit. Responsibilitiesand Essential Functions
- Patient & Visitor Interactions / Customer Service / Hourly Rounding: Interact with patients and visitors, answer call lights, phones, assist visitors, and perform purposeful hourly rounding on all assigned patients.
- Patient Safe Handling/Ambulation/Repositioning: Learn safe handling skills to assist ambulation of patients and support nursing staff with transferring, lifting, and repositioning patients using Safe Patient Handling equipment.
- Basic Nursing Care – ADLs: Assist patients with personal care needs including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, feeding, bedpan or urinal use, positioning, call lights, bed making, under RN/LPN supervision, following safety policies.
- Admission / Discharge / Transfers: Assist with room setup, welcome new patients, discharge or transfer patients, provide family orientation, transport or escort patients safely, update patients regularly.
- Procedures and Treatments: Accurately complete and document patient care activities (ADL, vital signs, weights, intake & output, calorie counts), perform procedures such as urinary catheter removal, ECGs, wound care and dressing changes under nurse direction, collect non-sterile specimens, perform point‑of‑care blood sugar testing, and promote skin integrity.
- Care Companion / Sitter / Observer: Remain with a patient at nurse or LPN request to ensure patient safety.

Specific Tasks:
Support nursing team with indirect patient care activities such as restocking equipment, cleaning, answering calls, filing records, retrieving supplies, specimens, instruments, test results.
- Eligible to work in the US
- Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course preferred
- Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred
- Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association; if not current, must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- No experience required
- Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, receive and follow through on directions.
- Commitment to patient and family welfare.
- Attend in‑depth orientation on patient care skill tasks; observe all fire, safety procedures and patient experience standards.
Environment: Requires normal mental, visual, auditory attention, manual dexterity, adequate visual and auditory acuity. Potential exposure to blood, body fluids, chemicals, hazardous conditions. Must work under pressure to meet patient care needs.
Physical DemandsUtilize patient movement equipment for lifting and transfers; may need to assist lifting up to 50 pounds in urgent events. Wear N95/PAPR and other PPE as required. Sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting throughout the shift.
Technical SkillsBasic computer skills required.
