Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the Cardio Vascular ICU (CVICU) is responsible for providing critical care to patients with cardiovascular conditions, utilizing advanced skills in managing complex patient needs and ensuring optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and multi-system organ failure.
• Care for patients undergoing CABG, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, and Impella procedures.
• Manage post-cardiac surgery care (not directly from the OR), pre/post cardiac cath/interventions, and pulmonary artery line/Swan Ganz monitoring.
• Perform IV therapy including accessing ports, arterial line management, and blood product administration.
• Administer medications such as continuous IV paralytics, sedation, and titrate cardiac/vasoactive drips.
• Manage care for CVA/Acute Stroke, lumbar drains, BiPAP/CPAP, and ventilated patients.
• Interpret ABGs, perform suctioning, manage ventilators, and adhere to infection prevention protocols.

Requirements:

• 3 years of CV ICU experience.
• Active IL license, CPR, ACLS, NIHSS certifications, and Epic experience.
• Pass an EKG test with a score of 80% or above.
• Submit an updated resume, CV ICU skills checklist, CV reference from a supervisor, and verification of IL license.
