Trialing Specialist Technician

This is a hybrid position located within a one-hour commuting radius of Evansville, IL.

To support this mission, Syngenta's Operations & Trialing Team is seeking a Trialing Specialist Technician to support our Glenview, IL site. The role will support the Trialing Manager in executing research-level yield trials on time, with high precision and accuracy, in a safe and compliant manner, to generate the highest-quality data for identifying superior-performing products in corn, soybean, and wheat during the growing season.

This position is a Peak Time Employee role with a designated break between growing seasons (~3 months). It is an annual position beginning February 1 and ending October 31.

Accountabilities:

• Operate as a member of a team responsible for planting, plot maintenance, spraying, note-taking (phenotyping), and harvesting research-level yield trial plots.
• Operate and maintain agricultural machinery or research equipment such as precision planters, drones, automated phenotyping equipment, and research combines.
• Perform all tasks in compliance with safety and stewardship policies and complete all required training.
• Support all tasks to achieve the Trialing Manager’s desired results (e.g., assist with field layout, planting, phenotyping, and harvest).
• Communicate regularly with peers and supervisors regarding project status, work-related activities, and data quality and timeliness.
• Plant, spray, maintain, and harvest research-level corn, soybean, and wheat trials to meet data quality standards and operational deadlines.

Required:

• Associate’s degree in agriculture or related discipline and/or relevant experience.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable history.
• Ability to work in a range of temperatures in field or greenhouse, lift up to 50 pounds, and work long hours during peak season.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Desired:

• Experience operating and maintaining agricultural machinery or research equipment.
• Ability to work independently under moderate supervision and travel to off-site locations.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a federal medical card for commercial motor vehicles.
• Pesticide applicator license holder or ability to acquire.
• Basic understanding of agriculture, agronomy practices, and trial data precision.
• Experience in operating, adjusting, maintaining, and performing minor repairs on plot equipment such as planters, tractors, cultivators, sprayers, and combines.

Salary: $24 - $28 per hour.
