This contract role is dedicated to supporting diverse learners across 5th through 8th grades, with responsibilities spanning both a middle school (5th/6th grade) and a junior high (7th/8th grade) setting - splitting the workweek evenly between both.
As the English Language Teacher (ESL), you’ll deliver impactful, direct instruction and foster a welcoming classroom environment. You’ll play an instrumental role in students' language development, academic achievement, and personal growth. The position is full time, Monday through Friday, for 37.5 hours per week.
Key Requirements:- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with ESL endorsement for grades 5-8 (minimum requirement)
- Preference given to those with a bilingual endorsement (PEL)
- Proven experience teaching general education or ESL in grades 5-8
- Confidence managing multi-grade classrooms and adapting teaching methods to various learning needs
- Commitment to student-centered, inclusive education
- Lead your own classroom, establishing a supportive environment for English language learners across 5th-8th grades
- Administer, proctor, and grade assessments to gauge student progress
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons tailored to student proficiency levels and backgrounds
- Implement effective instructional strategies that inspire and encourage language acquisition
- Collaborate with colleagues, resource teachers, and administrators to optimize student outcomes
Compensation for this role ranges from $37.50 to $46.75 per hour, commensurate with your experience, degree level, and teaching credentials.
