The Sr. Electrical Controls Engineer will be working in the container handling industry for a packaging line automation manufacturer of custom designed container handling machines.
Responsibilities:
Develop Electrical Controls PLC, Advanced Motion, and HMI Programs from scratch for a range of (Rockwell) Allen Bradley Controllers, and new equipment prototypes to support automation assembly area.
Develop new Standard Electrical Designs for new equipment and implement existing standard electrical designs for standard automation equipment. Design Electrical Schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
Supervise Panel Build process in the panel shop and review progress daily.
Develop and Integrate Vision Systems for automation applications including Orientation and Feature Detection using various vision tools.
Familiarity with high speed automation lines and cyclic rotary motion.
Review customer specifications with attention to detail, develop project plans and schedules across multiple departments including sales and applications.
Interact with customers frequently to review project plans, exchange integration information, and formulate installation plans.
Develop Operator Manuals, User Manuals, One Point Lessons, and other project documentation as required.
Periodic Travel to customer site for startups, installations or to resolve field issues; this may include new equipment integration with customer equipment and supervising installation electricians.
Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
Proficiency in electrical design to meet UL requirements
Ensure local, state, and Federal codes are met.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Technology or related field is required.
5+ years of hands-on electrical engineering design experience required.
Apply engineering principles, techniques and procedures to the design and production of products.
Skilled with Cyclic Rotary Motion.
Experienced with Ethernet/IP networks in an automation environment.
Adept at Communication and Problem Solving.
Capable of identifying problems, utilizing data-driven troubleshooting techniques, and reviewing related information with colleagues to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions through appropriate means such as mechanical, electrical, etc.
Familiarity with business and management principles involved in strategic planning, production methods and coordination of people and resources.
Schedule:
Some flexibility around core scheduled hours and approximately 15% travel required.
