Hours & Location
Monday – Friday 8:00 am–4:30 pm
Limited nights and weekends for on‑call training.
Location varies – multiple locations throughout the metro!

Job SummaryThis position provides the opportunity to gain practical work experience as a property management maintenance technician. Maintenance‑In‑Training (MIT) technicians will work closely with a Maintenance Mentor to learn all aspects of the Maintenance Technician role including equipment installation, troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance in order to ensure the property and grounds are meeting the company's established standards and any applicable laws.
Upon successful completion of the Maintenance‑In‑Training Learning Plan, trainees will move into a Maintenance Technician position. The property you complete the program at may not be the same property you move to once in a Maintenance Technician role. Movement is based on current Maintenance Technician openings.
Job Duties
- Works directly with Maintenance Mentor to complete the outlined Maintenance‑In‑Training Learning Plan
- Completes assigned training courses
- Reviews all existing work orders with the Maintenance Mentor and completes work orders as assigned
- Performs ground‑keeping tasks (as needed, based on needs of the property)
- Assists the Property Manager in completing unit‑to‑unit inspections
- Works directly with Property Manager and on‑site technicians to keep an adequate inventory of hand tools, parts and supplies to maintain a complete workshop area
- Works with Maintenance Mentor to monitor and maintain all building systems (HVAC, plumbing, boilers) and completes all site‑level preventative maintenance duties
- Maintains a positive and professional manner with all residents, vendors and the public
- Complies with all safety program requirements and works to promote safety in the workplace
- Alerts the Property Manager to any unusual circumstances or high‑priority issues that need immediate attention
All other duties as assigned by the Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor - Attend required trainings and meetings
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 0‑2 years’ experience in a related work environment (construction, maintenance, general labor)
- AA degree or certification in mechanical, HVAC, electrical or industrial maintenance (preferred)
- Fluent in English and skilled in oral and written communication
- Ability to use tact and diplomacy in a clear, courteous manner when dealing with co‑workers and the public
- Excellent decision‑making, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously with self‑direction
- Ability to openly accept feedback and display a willingness to learn
- Ability to perform assigned tasks with some work direction
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
