Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Industrial Maintenance
JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Lead Person plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the operational readiness, safety, and reliability of Martin Marietta’s aggregate processing plants. This position involves performing advanced maintenance, guiding a small team of technicians, and driving process improvements to meet maintenance and production objectives. Tasks including but not limited to: stationary and mechanical systems such as conveyors, shakers, pumps, and gearboxes, as well as general facility maintenance involving electrical, plumbing, and basic structural systems.
This role performs preventive maintenance, equipment diagnostics, and/or fabrication welding work as needed to minimize downtime and improve reliability. The Maintenance Lead Person actively supports safety initiatives, maintains detailed maintenance records, and partners with supervisors, vendors, and leadership to ensure all repairs and upgrades meet company and regulatory standards.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform evaluations of plant equipment seeking opportunities to improve availability, capability, and yield.
- Study trends to identify systemic plant maintenance needs.
- Lead projects to implement broad‑scale plant maintenance initiatives.
- Work with vendors to procure plant maintenance support, leading the related vendor selection process.
- Work with plant leadership and corporate leaders to understand reporting needs and develop reports on plant capacity, yield, and related plant maintenance activities.
- Report plant maintenance themes and trends to leadership and executives as needed.
- Maintain appropriate plant maintenance records of information and data in respective technology systems.
- Conduct MSHA pre‑shift safety inspections of equipment and work areas.
- Prioritize safety first, followed by quality and production.
- Maximize equipment performance by completing preventive maintenance and timely repairs per the Maintenance Module.
- Check, repair, and replace pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and screens to minimize downtime.
- Operate cranes, man‑lifts, welding and cutting tools, and other specialty equipment as needed.
- Perform fabrication, erection, and repair of processing and mobile equipment.
- Ensure maintenance backlog is reviewed and prioritized with the Supervisor and/or Plant Manager.
- Complete all required paperwork to maintain equipment in compliance with Martin Marietta standards.
- Train and coach employees on maintenance best practices, serving as a technical leader within the plant.
- In addition to the primary responsibilities outlined, the successful candidate may be expected to take on other tasks and assignments as required, including but not limited to duties outside the typical scope of the role to support overall team operations and organizational needs. Flexibility and adaptability to evolving job demands are essential.
High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience
Work Experience4+ years of related experience in Heavy‑Duty or Aggregate Plant Maintenance preferred.

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for plant maintenance and equipment servicing.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, and reach. Must maintain three points of contact when climbing on/off machinery or on ladders.
- Must possess strong hand‑eye‑foot coordination essential for operating hand/foot controls. Must have good depth perception with or without seeing aid for distances up to 150 feet.
- All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet, dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dB.
The hiring range for this position is $30.00 -$48.00
