Maintenance Supervisor Job Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating maintenance activities within an industrial manufacturing facility. This role provides technical leadership to a maintenance team, ensures reliable operation of machinery and equipment, and supports safe, efficient production across a multi-shift operation.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, proven leadership experience, and the ability to prioritize maintenance activities in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Essential Functions
  • Supervise, lead, and develop a team of maintenance technicians across a multi-shift operation.
  • Provide guidance, training, coaching, and technical support to maintenance personnel.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Inspect machinery, equipment, and facility systems to identify potential issues and address problems proactively.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams to prioritize maintenance activities based on operational requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and other equipment-related issues.
  • Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs designed to improve equipment reliability and extend asset life.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and maintenance supplies.
  • Monitor maintenance costs and assist with managing the maintenance budget while identifying opportunities for cost savings and improved efficiency.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with applicable safety regulations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure employees follow established safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, equipment history, and other required documentation.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability, maintenance processes, and facility operations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities consistent with the scope of the position.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Lead, or similar leadership role in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of industrial machinery, equipment, electrical systems, mechanical systems, hydraulics, and related processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, train, and develop a maintenance team.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple maintenance needs in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Solid understanding of industrial safety regulations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Technical degree, certification, or equivalent experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical/electrical technology, engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with high-temperature processing, furnaces, molten metals, or similar industrial processes is a plus.
  • Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) experience is a plus.

Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to move throughout an industrial facility to inspect equipment, supervise maintenance activities, and respond to operational or maintenance needs.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds as required for maintenance activities.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and other maintenance-related equipment.
  • Ability to work extended shifts of approximately 8-12 hours, including prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs or ladders, and sitting.
  • Ability to visually inspect equipment, read gauges and meters, and identify equipment conditions or malfunctions.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor industrial environments with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, machinery, and other typical manufacturing conditions.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard first-shift hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, or other shifts as operational needs require.
