Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic diagnoses malfunctions and repairs Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
Principal Accountabilities- Conduct diagnostics and repair of less complex repair/maintenance problems, inspect, and approve completed maintenance actions, solve repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications.
- Use automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, and analyze, diagnose, and repair GSE using conventional and digital multi‑meters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, frequency counters, oscilloscopes, circuit card testers, transistor testers, and hand tools.
- Maintain external fuel and grounding systems.
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE, inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
- Service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air; diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses; test equipment, and consult technical publications.
- Disassemble and assemble malfunctioning GSE accessories and components, remove, disassemble, repair, clean, treat for corrosion, assemble, and reinstall GSE components and accessories, stencil, and mark GSE in accordance with technical publications.
- Store, handle, label, use and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
- Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment; operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles.
- Maintain vehicle records, update paper and electronic equipment records, and provide dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations.
- Ensure good housekeeping, hazmat compliance, tool control, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety.
- May be required to perform other duties as needed to support the overall mission.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance; US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance.
- High school graduate or possess an equivalency certificate from an accredited program.
- Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver's license with a HAZMAT endorsement.
- Proficiency in Office software applications (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel) for communication via e‑mail and other software.
- Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret data.
- Diverse working conditions ranging from a standard office environment to outdoor conditions with inclement weather, dust, wind, and varying temperatures.
- Work may involve high noise hazards requiring adequate ear protection.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Must provide your own tools.
Hourly Rate: $35.26
