CMU Tech is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Tool Room Clerk to join our Transportation Services team. This position is responsible for maintaining an organized tool room, managing inventory, issuing and receiving tools and equipment, and ensuring all tools are in good working condition. The Tool Room Clerk will assist various departments with their tool and equipment needs and play a key role in ensuring smooth and efficient operations.

OVERVIEW AND ROLE SCOPE OF TEAM AND/OR TASKS

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Inventory Management:
Track, organize, and maintain an accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies in the tool room. Update records for tool usage, returns, and repairs.

Tool Issuance & Return:
Issue and receive tools and equipment to faculty, staff, and maintenance teams. Ensure items are properly checked in and out, documenting any damages or missing items.

Maintenance & Inspection:
Regularly inspect tools for wear and tear, report damage or malfunction, and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed. Ensure tools are cleaned and serviced regularly.

Record Keeping:
Maintain detailed logs of all tool transactions, usage, and inventory levels. Ensure compliance with university policies and safety regulations.

Customer Service:
Provide assistance to faculty, staff, and students by answering tool-related questions, offering guidance on tool selection, and ensuring safe handling and use of equipment.
