Location: Grand Junction, CO, USA

Schedule:
Friday–Sunday, 6:00 am–6:30 pm (3‑day work week with 11.11 % shift differential)
West Star Aviation, the fastest growing MRO organization in the industry, is seeking a Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician to manage a team of technicians, ensuring timely delivery of high‑quality work on aircraft. The role requires strong analytical, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.
Responsibilities- Lead the team to complete required jobs/tasks and utilize good judgement.
- Implement a robust turnover of work to the next shift.
- Identify opportunities to reduce aircraft turn time within your area of responsibility.
- Train and mentor technicians on assigned projects.
- Supervise mandatory daily workloads and work independently on multiple projects.
- Perform general mechanical functions such as panel removal/installation, repair work, sheet‑metal repair, and equipment maintenance.
- Troubleshoot and evaluate aircraft systems when designated.
- Inspect and evaluate aircraft and components when required.
- Conduct aircraft movement, performance runs, and taxiing if needed.
- Maintain shop facilities, equipment, and tooling.
- Work with customers in project management, pricing, and support roles.
- Communicate effectively in English (speak, write, read).
- Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisory or management staff.
- High school diploma or equivalent and Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license required.
- 8+ years of aviation maintenance experience; 4+ years in program‑specific airframes preferred.
- Experience working with limited supervision and leading small groups.
- Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and safety rules.
- Valid driver’s license approved for airline travel or valid passport ideal.
- Factory training on specific aircraft systems is preferred.
- Team player, self‑motivated, capable of operating in a fast‑paced environment with strict deadlines.
- Reliable attendance, including overtime and weekend commitments.
- Responsible for maintaining transportation and adherence to FAA guidelines.
- Proficient in basic personal computer operations and reporting.
- Lift at least 50 lbs.
- Routine walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and repetitive arm motions.
- Understand and implement aviation regulations and guidelines.
- Perform troubleshooting, assess system operations, and coordinate projects.
- Demonstrate team‑management skills.
