Bus Cleaner​/Detailer

In this role you'll be responsible for maintaining a spotless, welcoming environment for our passengers and ensuring our fleet looks its very best every day.

The Rapid is a public transportation organization headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI, serving the following communities:
Grand Rapids, East Grand Rapids, Grandville, Kentwood, Walker, and Wyoming.

As a Vehicle Detailer at The Rapid, you will be responsible for daily vehicle interior and exterior cleaning, disinfecting, in depth quarterly cleaning of buses and support vehicles with the goal of maintaining a high standard of vehicle cleanliness for our employees and customers. Moving vehicles and equipment to facilitate essential functions. Checking vehicle fluids, fueling, basic vehicle inspection, general labor, and light janitorial needs.

• Competitive Pay Rate:
  Starting rate is $19.91/hr.

• Fuel and wash support vehicles and equipment
• Deep clean vehicles and equipment
• Disinfect vehicles and equipment
• Checking and refilling vehicle fluids such as oil, transmission, coolant, and washer solvent
• Note and report vehicle defects, i.e., body damage, vandalism, inoperable lights, tire damage/low air pressure, etc.
• Clean and organize fleet and facility shops, bus storage, and areas where contracted janitorial services are not provided
• Maintain workstation
• Provide assistance to fleet technicians when necessary
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One or more years of related experience in vehicle detailing, facility cleaning, or janitorial maintenance is preferred.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new programs as required.
• A valid Michigan Driver's License
• Must be drug free.

Posture:
Continuous walking, pushing, stooping, squatting, and repetitive arm motion requiring full shoulder/elbow/wrist/hand mobility. Frequent lifting waist to chest, lifting below waist, pulling, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and reaching.

Occasional to frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
