Chassis Control Engineering Technician
Onsite – Position requires an employee to be onsite on a full‑time basis. First shift 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
Responsibilities- Plan, build, test and teardown instrumentation for the various tests requested by.
- Perform vehicle benchmark, validation, and developmental track testing.
- Evaluate results; produce quality test data in accordance with Vehicle Technical Specifications (VTS) and Federal Regulatory requirements, per documented GMW and NHTSA procedures.
- Investigate mechanical/electrical operational difficulties on products and/or components.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and computer/software problems with test equipment and properties.
- Support winter testing at Kincheloe test facility (December – March) and other local off‑site facilities (day trips).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to become GM Level 3 Driver certified.
- Minimum two‑year associate degree in automotive technology or equivalent (ASE Master Mechanic with multiple years of dealership experience).
- 2–5 years of electrical and/or mechanical hands‑on experience.
- Knowledge of instrumentation installation, troubleshooting and repair.
- Excellent mechanical assembly and disassembly skills.
- Experience with hand and air tools.
- Data acquisition, review and troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple assignments.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to handle basic project assignments with minimum supervision.
- Ability to repeatedly perform activities involving bending, twisting, pulling and lifting vehicle components up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
- Moving test equipment and portable tools (70–200 pounds) around the shop as required.
- Perform overhead and under‑dash assembly/disassembly operations on every build.
- Stand for long periods of time while performing build tasks.
- Ability to operate vehicle movers, walkie‑talkies or forklift trucks.
- Maintain good housekeeping and safe practices.
- Ensure confidentiality of all customer data.
- Target and complete continuous improvement ideas for the department.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills in both independent and team environments.
- Ability to learn from and share knowledge with co‑workers in a fast‑paced environment.
- Automotive electrical diagnosis and repair background.
