Installation Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
Alkegen Industrial Solutions seeks a product champion to support the technical sales cycle by advising customers on product applications, certification, and regulatory demands. The role is critical to the sales and support process.
Responsibilities- Support Thermbond refractory installations, including rapid-fire (TCS) and other REX product installations.
- Assist with ITM blanket, modules, and Silplate mass projects and Wagstaff Billet installations.
- Provide supervisory support for contractors, including setup and training of new contractors.
- Act as the link between end‑users and contractors, drafting and distributing commercial contracts with end‑users.
- Document installations and generate internal and public installation reports.
- Generate follow‑up reports after installations, including testimonials and data gathering.
- Conduct thermal analysis follow‑ups and set up gunning machines and peripheral equipment for tests and installations.
- Maintain knowledge of and perform maintenance on gunning equipment and installation tools.
- Provide demonstrations for workshops and ensure proper installation techniques for all products.
- Build metal and wood structures as required by installations.
- Follow all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
- Travel domestically and internationally, with travel expected to range from 25% to 50% of the time.
- Work extended or erratic hours while on customer installations.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Support Product Development and Quality Control Teams while operating out of the manufacturing facility.
- Execute additional duties as assigned by management.
- Background in chemical or materials manufacturing with significant shop‑floor exposure.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self‑starter, capable of completing tasks independently.
- Ability to simplify complex problems into task‑driven solutions.
- Practical thinker with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Available to work flexible hours or weekends if required.
- Science or Engineering higher degree (Chemistry, Materials Science).
- Experience with refractory and cementitious materials.
- Proven experience working in CPI, HPI, and metal process facilities.
- At least three years of relevant technical work experience, with refractory experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Whitmore Lake, Michigan. The successful hire will be based at the Whitmore Lake, MI facility.
Physical DemandsThe position requires regular talking and hearing, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must lift or move items up to 22 kg unassisted and must have the vision capabilities listed above.
Position Type / Expected Hours of WorkFull‑time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional requirement for flexible hours or weekend work.
