Availability:
Substitute, on call as needed, available immediately. Hours varied. Lunch break: duty‑free, non‑paid or non‑duty free, paid lunch break (30 minutes) as determined by assignment.
Salary & Benefits:
$18.00 per hour, no benefits.
- Assist in maintaining seasonal ground work (snow, lawn, etc.).
- Assist in regulating heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to insure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.
- Clean and preserve designated spaces, equipment, facilities in building(s).
- Assist visitors to the facility with directions within the building and on the grounds and in obtaining and setting up needed equipment.
- Deal with all emergency custodial duties throughout the buildings while on duty, including the Educational and Transition Center buildings.
- Assist in an ongoing program of general maintenance upkeep and repair for all facilities, including Holiday Camp.
- Move furniture and/or equipment within and between buildings as activities require.
- Repair and assemble furniture and equipment as necessary.
- Apply pesticides and chemicals as needed to control weeds, rodents and insects.
- Assist in the inspection, cleaning and maintenance of all school vehicles and equipment as needed.
- Responsible for maintaining bus/storage building in proper order.
- Perform general and scheduled maintenance on tractor and mowers.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb a ladder to the height of 30 feet.
- Follow work rules.
- Carry out all other responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor or Assistant Superintendent.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
ExperiencePrevious custodial/maintenance experience preferred.
License and Certification RequirementsValid Driver's license with an excellent driving record.
Skills and Other Requirements- Ability to read and interpret operating manuals and other related documents.
- Demonstrated aptitude/competence for minor maintenance responsibilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community.
- Ability to perform duties with an awareness of District requirements and Board of Education policies.
Upon hire, employees of the Monroe County Intermediate School District are fingerprinted for a Michigan and FBI criminal history check. The processing fee of $42.00 is the responsibility of the applicant.
Physical DemandsThe employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, sit and talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee frequently must bend at the neck more than the average person. The employee must regularly lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required: close vision and peripheral vision.
The employee needs to be able to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment. Occasionally will assist in physical management of students.
The noise level is usually moderate to loud. The employee must work with public and other staff, continuously meeting multiple demands from several people.
