Nature of Work
The purpose of this job is to use journeymen painting skills and knowledge in preparing surfaces for painting and performing varied brush, roller and spray painting. Applies product for protection of equipment such as pipes, motors, walls, and floors. Responsible for safety colors on various pipes and safety protection.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
- Performs pre-painting prep work; sands, patches, caulks and covers surfaces
- Mixes and matches paint; applies paint using a brush, roller or spray gun
- Paints inside and outside building walls and related surfaces
- Makes time and material estimates; maintains records of completed work
- Removes paint from metal surfaces; cleans surface of rust and repaints
- Ensures the proper maintenance and cleanliness of work environments and materials
- Performs related work as required
Education and Experience
- High School diploma (or GED equivalent)
- Four (4) years of experience in the painting trade
- Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
