Custodian Position

The Eastern Upper Peninsula Intermediate School District (EUPISD) is seeking a Custodian to provide a clean environment to ensure full and productive use of district facilities. The Custodian must work with the Superintendent and staff. Period of employment is September-June (approximately 190 days) with some potential July/August work days as needed. Must be flexible and able to work 8 hours daily, 5 days per week.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with five years of maintenance experience, preferred. Knowledge of materials, methods, equipment, and practices used in cleaning and minor repair operations is required. Ability to stand for long periods, kneel, climb, stoop, reach, and walk frequently is necessary. Demonstrated mechanical ability, strong organizational and time management skills, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, diligent work habits, and the ability to apply common sense to routine decision-making are also required.

Must have regular and reliable attendance, ability to carry and move heavy objects and lift up to 50lbs, and possess a valid driver's license.

Duties and responsibilities include sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors and other surfaces; cleaning and dusting walls, furniture, fixtures, windows, bathroom stalls, doors, trim, and related furnishings; cleaning whiteboards and light fixtures; vacuuming carpet and stairs; extracting carpet/chairs as needed; renewing floor surfaces; collecting, bagging, and disposing of trash and recycling; replacing light bulbs/tubes as needed; cleaning restroom facilities; making necessary room preparations for meetings or other functions;

locking/unlocking doors and windows to classroom and offices; keeping the supervisor aware of needed repairs or projects; remaining free of substance abuse and/or illegal drug use at all times; and performing other duties as assigned.

Wages and fringes: up to $18.00/hour. Benefits available based on hours worked - medical, life, LTD, dental, and vision insurance, cash in lieu of medical insurance; and accrued sick and personal time; 10 non-contract (unpaid) days.
