Position Overview

At the State of Minnesota, the Department of Natural Resources is hiring a full‑time General Maintenance Worker at Grand Rapids Regional Headquarters. The role includes janitorial services and maintenance activities to ensure a clean and safe environment for staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform janitorial services including dusting, vacuuming, recycling, sanitizing restrooms, and maintaining floors.
  • Conduct indoor and outdoor maintenance activities, including light building repairs and operating equipment for lawn care and snow removal.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of general cleaning techniques and materials suitable for building maintenance.
  • Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents and safe handling, application, and disposal.
  • Experience operating lawn mower, snow blower, and small power tools for grounds work.
  • Experience with maintenance tools and equipment sufficient to operate safely and perform minor repairs.
  • Ability to keep records and perform basic math calculations for ordering supplies and inventory.
  • Customer service skills for effective communication with internal and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current possession of a valid Minnesota boilers license.
Additional Requirements

Unrestricted Class D driver’s license with a clear record; only persons 18 years or older with a valid driver’s license may operate equipment and vehicles on behalf of the Agency. Must meet physical requirements and work in environmental conditions of the position with reasonable accommodations.
