Job Overview
Under the general direction of the Facilities Services Supervisor, this Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician will oversee and ensure all facilities remain in operating form. Daily tasks vary day‑to‑day depending upon what requires attention at the time. The position also leads and participates in the implementation of the facilities maintenance service quality standards and organizes and coordinates the activities of assigned Quality Control Technicians and contractors to ensure compliance with contract specifications on Airport‑managed facilities.
Responsibilities- Performing quality checks on HVAC, MEPS, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural systems.
- Responding to and checking security and safety issues.
- Supervising maintenance contractors to uphold quality standards and resolving customer and service issues.
- Ordering supplies, handling records, and scheduling maintenance requests.
- Leading and conducting daily quality control and facilities service maintenance contract compliance assessments of ETAM board‑managed facilities.
- Evaluating service requests to verify their nature, extent, corrective action, and quality of work.
- Interacting with the Facilities Service Supervisor to resolve contract performance deficiencies or disputes.
- Entering data (maintenance requests, trouble calls, work actions, etc.) into the Airport Total Asset Management System.
- Maintaining written reports, logs, and documentation on inspection results and contractor work.
- Assisting with training of Quality Control Technicians.
- Determining the scope of service requests, urgency for correction, and initiating notification or dispatch of contractors or in‑house staff after normal hours.
- Briefing the incoming Lead Quality Control Technician on ongoing issues and current corrective status.
- Responding on site immediately to any facilities emergency to assess conditions, brief supervisory staff, and dispatch appropriate repair staff.
Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent. Three (3) years of experience in facilities maintenance. Formal training and/or two (2) years of experience in one of the following technical specialties, based on the specific vacancy:
- Industrial electrical/mechanical operations and/or maintenance.
- Industrial or commercial HVAC and related mechanical systems.
- Commercial custodial services supervision.
- Baggage handling and passenger boarding bridge systems.
- Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
Must be able to work rotating shift when requested. Possess a valid Class C driver’s license. Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge in accordance with TSA requirements within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for the badge upon each renewal.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Knowledge of Airport terminal systems including baggage carousels, conveyance, general electrical, facilities, jet bridge, general building maintenance, cleaning, and landscaping.
- Knowledge of Airport procedures employed in the preparation, bidding, and awarding of service and maintenance contracts.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and problem‑solving skills for fixing maintenance issues.
- Ability to interpret and monitor contract specifications regarding EFS assigned facilities.
- Ability to operate a personal computer and be familiar with the Microsoft Office software suite.
- Ability to make independent judgments.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to discuss and resolve maintenance issues.
- Ability to evaluate records for planning and building inspections.
- Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and blueprints.
- Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain accurate records that monitor inconsistencies with contract standards.
