(Plant Operations Manager)

At the IAFF Center of Excellence, your work does more than keep a facility running—it helps first responders heal.

Situated on a peaceful 15-acre campus surrounded by pine forest, our specialized treatment center serves firefighters and emergency medical professionals overcoming PTSD, substance use, and behavioral health challenges. Every element of our environment—from residential spaces to fitness and wellness facilities is intentionally designed to support recovery, resilience, and a return to service.

We are seeking a skilled and driven Maintenance Manager to help sustain this mission-critical environment. In this role, you will provide hands‑on leadership to ensure the campus remains safe, compliant, and fully operational.

What You’ll Do

Working closely with the facility leadership team, you will oversee the daily operations, safety, and long-term functionality of the campus.

Core Responsibilities
  • Protect and maintain the facility’s physical assets through proactive maintenance and planning
  • Review and respond to recommendations from regulatory, planning, and inspection agencies
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, codes, and healthcare regulations, including Joint Commission standards
  • Supervise daily maintenance operations, repairs, and preventative maintenance programs
  • Maintain high standards across patient areas, offices, and staff spaces
  • Lead fire and life safety efforts, including drills and upkeep of alarms, extinguishers, signage, and evacuation plans
Additional Responsibilities
  • Oversee contractor and vendor performance and communicate updates to the Operations Director
  • Support budget management, including tracking expenditures for materials and equipment
  • Participate in training, in-service education, and ongoing professional development
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

  • Mission-driven work: Support those who serve communities every day
  • Purpose-built campus: Designed specifically for firefighter and EMS culture
  • Natural setting: A quiet, forested environment that promotes healing
  • Collaborative team: Work alongside experienced healthcare and operational leaders

  • Minimum of 2 years of hands‑on experience in facility maintenance or related technical fields
  • Demonstrated experience in construction, general contracting, or facility renovation projects
  • Strong technical expertise across core trades, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or senior living environments preferred
  • Familiarity with Joint Commission standards, including survey preparation and compliance support
  • Proficiency with CMMS or web-based work order systems (e.g., TELS, Fiix, Procore, or similar platforms)
  • Military or first responder experience strongly valued and aligned with the mission of the IAFF facility
  • Ability to reside within a reasonable commuting distance to ensure consistent on‑site leadership and timely response
  • Competitive starting pay within the $75,000–$85,000 range
