Job Description SummaryThe Weld County Sheriff's office is recruiting for a Custodial Lead Worker. The Custodial Lead Worker works within the jail and manages trusty inmate workers doing custodial duties. The schedule for this position is Sunday through Thursday 6:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.
ResponsibilitiesSupervise and assist trusty inmate workers in the performance of custodial duties, to include:
- Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and offices
- Wax and polish floors
- Empty trash and garbage containers
Other duties as assigned.
Essential duties account for approximately 80% of the role.
Additional duties (approximately 20%) include notifying the supervisor of any facility maintenance or repair needs and maintaining a stock of necessary supplies in work areas.
Qualifications- Required
Education:
High School Diploma/GED Equivalent - Preferred Experience:
Six months of janitorial/custodial experience
Required
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; and the ability to count, sort, and categorize inventory items
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Ability to operate telephones, computer terminal, keyboard, photocopier, and printer/scanning instrumentation
- Must pass a background check, polygraph, ergomed, and drug screen
- Criminal background check must be passed prior to employment start date
- Pre-employment substance screening required; position subject to pre-employment drug screening
DL NUMBER – Driver License, valid in state.
Employment TermsThis position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.
