Department Information

The University of Northern Colorado is located in Greeley, Colorado, about an hour north of Denver and within driving distance of the Rocky Mountains. Position Summary

Provide routine and specialized custodial services to maintain clean, safe, and well‑maintained campus facilities. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, classrooms, offices, laboratories, residence halls, athletic and common areas; maintaining hard‑surface and carpeted floors; cleaning windows, fixtures, furniture, and high‑ and low‑level surfaces; and properly handling waste and recycling. Duties also include operating custodial equipment, using approved cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines, supporting event setup and cleanup, assisting with snow and ice removal, and providing guidance or on‑the‑job training to new or less‑experienced staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Space Cleaning – 65 % – Perform custodial and sanitation services across campus facilities, including routine cleaning tasks such as dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping and disinfecting surfaces, cleaning windows and water fountains, emptying trash and recycling, and resetting furniture. Perform annual deep cleaning and restorative maintenance, including stripping and waxing floors, shampooing and extracting carpets, and other intensive cleaning procedures.
  • Restrooms, Locker Rooms, and Shower Rooms – 15 % – Perform routine and deep cleaning of these facilities, including disinfecting surfaces, sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors, cleaning and sanitizing toilets, urinals, sinks, mirrors, stalls, lockers, and shower areas, restocking supplies, and emptying trash and recycling.
  • Floor Care – 7 % – Perform daily and scheduled maintenance of carpeted and hard‑surface flooring, including routine cleaning, spot cleaning, and spill response; interim care such as burnishing and low‑moisture carpet cleaning; and deep cleaning and restorative services such as stripping, refinishing, sealing, waxing hard floors, and shampooing and extracting carpets.
  • Snow Removal – 3 % – Perform snow and ice removal services for building entrances, walkways, and other designated pedestrian areas, including shoveling, applying ice melt products, and removing residual materials. May require early mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends based on weather conditions.
  • Event Cleaning – 10 % – Provide operational support for campus events by performing event setup, breakdown, and post‑event cleaning. Responsibilities include opening, closing, and securing bleachers; setting up and tearing down tables, chairs, staging, and related equipment; cleaning and restoring athletic facilities, academic spaces, residence halls, outdoor venues, and other event locations; and performing deep cleaning and rapid turnaround cleaning for summer camps, conferences, and seasonal programs.

  • Six (6) months of relevant experience in a custodial or related occupation.
