Salary: $19.26 per hour plus benefits, range $17. Additional salary credit may be given for internal transfers and recent rehires up to $30.86 per hour plus benefits.

Contract Length:  Days M-F; 3:30 pm to 12:00 am

Education / Experience:

  • High school Diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • Valid Colorado driver's license (Required)

Job Description

Summary/Objective: Supervising and assisting employees assigned to a building in the proper care and cleaning of the buildings and grounds. Duties performed per work schedules and policies set by the Custodial Department with limited supervision.

Essential Functions
  • Responsible for fixed asset inventory in assigned buildings.
  • Respond to emergencies at an assigned building 24 hours a day.
  • Supervise fixed asset inventory in multiple locations.
  • Assist and supervise general cleaning of building(s) and grounds.
  • Use positive verbal and non-verbal skills when interacting with district personnel and community members.
  • Perform work according to printed information on the Facilities Department work order system when required.
  • Direct activities of up to nine other employees.
  • Operate cleaning equipment as needed.
  • Supervise students frequently, as required.
  • Substitute for any school staff position on short-term basis, as requested.
  • Open the building; check heating plants.
  • Establish daily work schedule(s).
  • Inspect work areas to prepare for special uses and scheduled jobs; inspect to prevent and address vandalism.
  • Replace floor, ceiling and wall tiles.
  • Adjust door checks and panic hardware.
  • Start, reset boiler, check and log.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on cleaning equipment.
  • Assist in unloading hot food; clean cafeteria after breakfast and lunch.
  • Evaluate subordinates with assistance from the foreman.
  • Pursue picking up papers and debris around buildings, school grounds and fences.
  • Weed and trim around trees, shrubs and flowerbeds.
  • Remove snow from entrances and designated areas.
  • Assist maintenance and grounds personnel when required.
  • Assist with fire drills.
  • Clean body fluid spills.
  • Maintain MSDS book for all cleaning chemicals.
  • Enforce safe work practices.
  • Call in all work order requests and follow through.
  • Estimate cost of assigned projects.
  • Occasionally supervise students as required by principal.
  • Perform special skilled functions as requested, such as bilingual translations, computer work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Respond under pressure to immediate situations while maintaining courteous and professional relationships.
  • Perform work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Make independent decisions using good judgment and common sense.
  • Follow and supervise others to follow established safety practices.
  • Work independently and with other managers.
  • Apply mathematical skills as needed.
  • Understand methods, materials, tools, and practices of custodial work.
  • Locate and shut main utility supply valves or breakers in an emergency (gas, electric, water).
  • Read fire zone indicators and direct emergency personnel.
  • Perform all functions of the position.
