Facilities Operations manages maintenance, operations, grounds maintenance, housekeeping, utility infrastructure, safety, regulatory compliance, project management, and renovations for a campus with more than 100 buildings totalling 6 million sq‑ft.
Position SummaryThis Crew Leader is responsible for maintaining the Alumni House, interpreting setup drawings, and supporting audio‑visual equipment during events. The role focuses on customer service with Alumni House patrons, general and floor‑care cleaning across campus, and is mandatory per the Adverse Weather and Emergency Event Policy.
Minimum QualificationsBasic knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions, and competency in medium‑to‑heavy physical work are required. Equivalent training and experience are acceptable. Special certification may be required for some duties. This is a generalized representation of positions in this class and may not identify essential functions per ADA.
Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, And Certificates- Valid driver’s license
- High School Diploma or GED
- Five years’ experience in Housekeeping, preferably in a university environment
- Knowledge of floor care and cleaning
- Skilled in the use of floor maintenance equipment
- Ability to follow procedural directions for cleaning products
- Ability to follow instructions

Special Projects / Additional Duties
- Perform periodic deep cleaning of Alumni House and other university areas using equipment such as TFC‑2000, Kaivac Cleaning Machines, Turbo force Restroom Cleaners, etc.
- Manage exterior building areas up to 25 ft from entrances: waste receptacles, cigarette urns, pressure washing, leaf blowing/sweeping, snow‑removal evaluation.
- Coordinate moves: liaise with customers and supervision to ensure safety and compliance with the Departmental Moving SOP.
- Floor care: perform daily vacuuming, stain prevention, periodic extraction, bonneting, and other assigned floor‑care tasks for both carpeted and hard‑surface areas.
- Supply inventory: monitor, report, and restock custodial supplies as directed.
- Event logistics: execute event setup drawings, manage audio‑visual events (including weekend and evening coverage), and advise customers on best practices.
