Instrument Operator; Greenville, NC Office

Rivers and Associates, Inc. is currently seeking an Instrument Operator to join the Surveying team.

• Operate survey instruments/equipment required to perform surveys on job sites as directed by the Party Chief.
• Responsible for the operation, checking and basic field adjustments on transits, total stations, robotic total stations, data collectors, levels, compass, tribrachs, tripods, and GPS equipment.
• Must be knowledgeable of the principles of performing basic surveys of leveling, traversing, boundary surveys, construction surveys, topographic surveys, and photogrammetry control surveys.
• Coordinate field work for a variety of standard types of surveys under the supervision of a Party Chief.
• Basic plan reading and preparation and have a basic knowledge of the terminology and principles of conventional drafting.
• Responsible for ensuring the truck is loaded and all supplies necessary for completion of the day’s work are fully stocked.
• Other duties as assigned.

• High School diploma or equivalent, courses in mathematics and surveying that are required in order to perform the above responsibilities.
• Ability to walk 5 miles a day and/or stand for up to 7 hours a day.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment.
• Possession of a valid, current driver’s license.
• Motor vehicle records check.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
