Work Schedule: 240 Days
Position Overview
Greenville ISD is seeking a dependable and skilled General Maintenance Worker to support the maintenance and repair of district facilities. This position ensures campuses and district buildings remain safe, functional, and well-maintained to support student learning and district operations.
Primary Purpose
Perform general maintenance, repair, and upkeep of district buildings, grounds, and equipment in accordance with district standards and safety regulations.
Qualifications
Education / Certification:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid Texas driver's license required
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and general repairs
- Ability to operate hand and power tools safely
- Ability to read work orders and follow written and verbal instructions
- Knowledge of workplace safety standards and procedures
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in general maintenance or related field preferred
Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on buildings, equipment, and fixtures
- Assist with plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and HVAC-related tasks as needed
- Respond to maintenance work orders in a timely and efficient manner
- Follow all district safety guidelines and procedures
- Identify and report safety hazards or major repair needs
- Ensure compliance with district and regulatory standards
- Assist with moving furniture and equipment
- Support campus events and facility setup as needed
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in clean and safe condition
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, climbing, and carrying heavy materials
- Ability to work on ladders and in confined spaces
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and maintenance-related materials
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Maintain focus and safety awareness
- Play a key role in maintaining safe and functional learning environments
- Work in a stable, team-oriented department
- Support campuses and district operations year-round
