Custodial Aide; Temporary​/Seasonal - Greenwich Board of Education

Assists custodians in the cleaning of a school or other Town Buildings. Completes all assigned tasks well and in a timely manner. Works under the supervision of a Head Custodian, Maintenance Foreman, Custodian II or department supervisor.

This position will be assigned to a school building within the Board of Education.

High school diploma or the equivalent plus six months experience in performing custodial work.

• Knowledge of materials, methods, implements and devices used in cleaning operations.
• Ability to perform routine and occasionally strenuous work during long working hours.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and/or basic written instructions and to perform work in a safe manner.
• Ability to maintain a satisfactory working relationship with others.
• Ability to learn to safely operate a vacuum cleaner, wet/dry vacuum, and other related cleaning equipment.

• Assist custodians with duties such as vacuums, mops, dusts, scrubs, floors; clean rooms, halls, furniture and windows; wash dust mops.
• Assist with setting up areas for meetings, assemblies, exhibits, athletic programs and other activities.
• May sweep entryways, remove snow from entrances, exits and sidewalks.
• Transport supplies and equipment.
• May be required to work or crawl in close quarters at times, such as tunnels, attics, and other related places.
• Perform related work as required.
