Metro East Web Academy is seeking a dependable, self-motivated Custodian who takes pride in doing quality work, notices what needs attention, and can manage daily responsibilities with a high level of independence.

• Clean and maintain classrooms, offices, common areas, hallways, entrances, restrooms, kitchens/breakrooms, eating areas, storage areas, and other campus spaces.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, disinfect, empty garbage and recycling, restock restrooms, clean spills, and complete other daily custodial tasks.
• Perform periodic deep cleaning, carpet extraction, floor scrubbing, window cleaning, high dusting, furniture cleaning, and seasonal/summer cleaning projects.
• Help open and secure the building, follow safety procedures, monitor exits and building conditions, and report concerns promptly.
• Maintain custodial supplies, equipment, storage areas, and the school's SDS binder.
• Set up and clean up rooms for meetings, trainings, school activities, community events, and graduation-related functions.
• Use email, Google Workspace, work-order software, and building systems to communicate and manage assigned work.
• Work independently while staying in regular communication with the Facilities Director.

• A reliable, punctual, detail-oriented person who takes ownership of the job and follows through on assigned work.
• A self-starter who can recognize what needs to be done without constant direction and who responds well to feedback and guidance.
• Someone who is respectful, professional, solution-oriented, and comfortable working around students and staff.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Custodial, commercial cleaning, school facilities, floor-care, carpet-care, or similar experience is preferred. MEWA may consider a strong candidate with transferable experience and demonstrated reliability.
• Moderate comfort using email, calendars, Google Workspace tools, and a work-order system.
• Ability to complete required background check and fingerprinting.

This is an active position that includes extended standing and walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing/pulling, carrying supplies, moving furniture, using ladders, and working around cleaning chemicals. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently. Metro East Web Academy will make reasonable accommodations for known physical or mental disabilities of an applicant or employee as well as known limitations related to pregnancy, childbirth, or a related medical condition, such as lactation, unless the accommodation would cause an undue hardship.

• Full-time, 40 hours per week on a 230-day annual work calendar.
• Typical schedule:
  
  Monday-Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m.
  
  -4:00 p.m. Staff who work 8 hours are entitled to two 10-minute breaks and one 30-minute duty-free lunch.
• Starting wage: $27.04 per hour.
• Medical, dental, vision, and retirement benefits are available for this position, subject to eligibility and applicable plan terms.
• Occasional pre-approved special-event work may be available. Emergency call-in outside the normal schedule is expected only very rarely.
