Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
We are seeking a Facilities General Maintenance Technician for our client site in Groton, CT. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills and will be committed to working with others to deliver best‑in‑class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Aesthetic Maintenance and Repairs: Paint and patch walls, doors, and other surfaces; replace damaged or missing ceiling and floor tiles; repair leaky sinks, faucets, and minor plumbing issues; replace light bulbs and fixtures to ensure proper illumination.
- General Maintenance
Activities:
Perform on‑the‑spot repairs and improvements, including minor carpentry, basic electrical work, and other tasks that keep the facility polished and operationally smooth. - Safety and Quality Adherence: Follow safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, PPE usage, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP); promptly report hazards or escalated issues to supervisors.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in maintenance, facilities management, or related field preferred.
- At least 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in general building maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical, laboratory, or industrial environment.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools for painting, patching, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry tasks.
- Basic knowledge of building systems (HVAC awareness, lighting, plumbing).
- Experience using CMMS software for work order tracking; training will be provided if needed.
- Strong attention to detail, problem‑solving abilities, proactive mindset, and excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently during secondary shift with minimal supervision.
- Physical requirements:
lift up to 50 lbs; climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding; perform repetitive motions such as bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching, wrist movements; walk extensively; work in emergency conditions.
- Technical degree preferred.
- Experience in a GMP or similar regulated environment (hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses).
- Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, and schematic diagrams.
- Experience using EAMS or other CMMS; ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule instructions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client’s location.
- Willingness to work overtime, various shifts, weekends, and to possess a valid driver’s license.
- Must be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident.
Salary range: $28.00 – $32.00 per hour. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
