Aircraft Sheet metal Mechanic I

Responsibilities include fabricating, installing, and maintaining aircraft sheet‑metal parts, planning and laying out work from blueprints, operating sheet‑metal machines, cutting, bending, forming, and assembling components, reading work requests, developing sketches and repair parts, ensuring quality standards, working in confined spaces, following safety procedures, and collaborating with maintenance teams.

• Valid up‑to‑date A&P license.
• If no A&P license: 3 years aviation maintenance experience, 2 years rotary‑wing aircraft experience, and 2 years MDS (sheet metal) experience.
• All experience must be within the last six years.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
• US citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization.
• Tools are required; must possess own shadowed/etched tools and toolbox.

• 2+ years actual and recent experience in repair, modification, maintenance, and overhaul of aircraft.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and part replacement.
• Broad knowledge of aircraft sheet‑metal/structural modifications and repair.
• Basic knowledge of electrical theory and expertise with aircraft tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet‑metal brakes, and shears.
• Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
• Ability to prioritize workloads, maintain schedules, and lead teams on complex tasks.
• Participation in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
• Experience conducting inspections for required aeronautical type maintenance performed by mechanics.
• Will receive technical guidance from supervisors or higher‑level technicians and may lead teams on complex aircraft tasks.

• Walk and stand on level and inclined surfaces for extended periods.
• Climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
• Crouch, crawl, grasp, handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees, and reach above/below shoulders.
• Lift heavy objects exceeding 50 pounds.
• Type using a standard keyboard for email and software applications.
• Handle dirty parts and lubricants.
• Wear proper PPE and pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
• Operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
• Work in drafty, noisy, and dirty environments, potentially outdoors or in austere conditions.
• Be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
• Work in all‑weather conditions as required.

Hourly Rate: $37.83 (range may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws).
