Job Overview
Amentum is seeking an HVAC Utilities Maintenance Technician V for our client site in Groton, CT. The role focuses on maintaining industrial chillers and support systems in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Respond proactively to work orders and troubleshoot industrial mechanical systems, including chillers, boilers, steam turbines, pumps, valves, and pneumatic systems.
- Perform predictive and preventive maintenance inspections, lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, and other scheduled actions as per the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Diagnose and repair utility plant support systems, water, compressed air, and steam lines.
- Provide service and feedback to customers on all work orders while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Recommend improvements to maintenance methods and equipment performance.
- Analyze and resolve work problems, assist coworkers in problem solving, and enforce safety regulations.
- Follow proper safety guidelines, including job hazard analysis and lockout/tag‑out procedures, while wearing required PPE.
- Act within a team environment, demonstrating respect, empathy, and professionalism to teammates and clients.
- Manage multiple tasks and balance workload while focusing on detail and prioritization.
- Shift priorities as needed, resolve issues independently, and remain flexible as requested by management.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- CT S1/S2 Heating, Piping and Cooling License.
- Active EPA Universal certification.
- Five years of experience as a maintenance technician in Power/Utility/Chiller Plants.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic mechanical equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, steam turbines, gas turbines, compressors, refrigeration, and more in a highly regulated environment.
- Strong mechanical skills and written & verbal communication.
- Identify and correct safety‐related issues; perform independent equipment evaluations to pre‑empt failures.
- Pass background checks and obtain site‑specific security access.
- Pass a medical evaluation for respirator use and complete required fit tests for all respirators.
- Work overtime, including holidays and weekends as assigned.
- Hold a valid driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles, as required.
- Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident; no sponsorship provided.
- Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, supply & exhaust fans, power transmission components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience performing pipe fitting, welding, fabrication, and millwright related work.
- Experience with steam turbines, gas turbines, boilers, and building automation systems in an industrial or research facility.
$38.00–$42.00 per hour. The rate is a good‑faith estimate and may vary based on job responsibilities, experience, skills, and other factors.
