Job Summary
Amentum is seeking an HVAC Facilities Maintenance Technician V for our client site in Groton, CT. This hourly position offers a competitive rate of $38 – $42 per hour and includes a competitive benefits package.
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Various hours may be required based on business demand.
Responsibilities- Assist site leadership in executing all daily operations for the facilities team.
- Monitor and adjust building HVAC and mechanical systems, acknowledge critical building alarms, and perform appropriate corrective actions.
- Respond after hours if repairs are needed.
- Act as a technical expert in HVAC and provide preventive and corrective maintenance for a wide variety of industrial or commercial facility HVAC equipment.
- Identify and correct safety‑related issues and perform independent equipment evaluations to identify potential failures.
- Operate, maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair ventilation equipment, pumps, fans, chillers, rooftop AHUs, split systems, compressors, refrigeration, and other mechanical equipment as needed.
- Utilize the building automation system to track building conditions and the operation of facilities equipment.
- Apply strong mechanical and electrical skills to complete assignments.
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC control and operating systems as scheduled from a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Respond to and provide service and feedback to the customer on all work orders while ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Follow proper safety guidelines such as job hazard analysis, lockout/tagout, and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Operate various measuring, diagnostic, and testing instruments to support energy efficiency solutions.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Maintain a strict schedule to be successful in the assignment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by Management or Lead.
- Work in a team environment, demonstrating friendliness, respect, empathy, and professionalism toward teammates and clients.
- Balance workload and multiple tasks while focusing on attention to detail and prioritizing assignments.
- Take initiative to resolve issues and solve problems independently, shifting priorities as needed.
- Focus on customer relations and client partnering.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Eight years of technical experience in any skilled trade.
- Ability to obtain a security access badge at our client’s location.
- Willingness to work overtime, various shifts, and weekends.
- Possibility of requiring a valid Driver’s License.
- United States citizen or Permanent Resident.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding, perform repetitive motions (bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, wrist movement), walk extensively throughout the building, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Technical degree preferred.
- Experience operating building management systems.
- Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); EAMS experience is a plus.
- Experience using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs.
- Demonstrated technical background in operations within a pharmaceutical or hospital facilities environment.
- OE2, D2, S‑1 or S‑2 license, USP 797 and 897 knowledge.
- Pay based on licenses and years of experience.
- Regularly lift to 50lbs.
- Regularly climb ladders, steps, and scaffolding.
- Repetitive motions: bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement.
- Walk extensively throughout the building during shift.
- Wear steel‑toe safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, and other personal protective equipment as needed.
- Cope with demands (stressors) that are associated with the job and/or the work environment.
Hourly rate: $38.00 – $42.00. Compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
