Facilities General Maintenance Technician – Groton, CT
We are seeking a Facilities General Maintenance Technician for our client site in Groton, CT. The successful candidate will have outstanding skills and will be committed to working with others to deliver best‑in‑class, unparalleled excellence in customer service and satisfaction.
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm. Various hours may be required based on business demand.
Key Responsibilities- Aesthetic Maintenance and Repairs: painting and patching walls, doors and other surfaces; replacing damaged or missing ceiling tiles; replacing damaged or missing floor tiles; repairing leaky sinks, faucets and minor plumbing issues; replacing light bulbs, fixtures and ensuring proper illumination.
- General Maintenance
Activities:
on‑the‑spot repairs and improvements, including minor carpentry, basic electrical and other tasks that contribute to the facility’s visual appeal and operational smoothness. - Safety and Quality Adherence: follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP); report any hazards or escalated issues to supervisors promptly.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in maintenance, facilities management or related field preferred. - Experience:
3–5 years of hands‑on experience in general building maintenance, preferably in a pharmaceutical, laboratory or industrial environment; familiarity with aesthetic repairs and proactive maintenance approaches highly desirable. - Technical
Skills:
proficiency with basic hand and power tools for painting, patching, plumbing, electrical and carpentry tasks; basic knowledge of building systems (HVAC awareness, lighting, plumbing); experience using CMMS software for work order tracking (training provided if needed). - Soft Skills:
strong attention to detail, problem‑solving abilities, proactive mindset; excellent communication skills for documenting work and collaborating with team members; ability to work independently with minimal supervision. - Physical/Special Requirements: regularly lift to 50lb; climb ladders, steps, scaffolding; repetitive motions (bend, stoop, squat, kneel, stretch, reach, wrist movement); walk extensively; wear steel‑toe shoes, safety glasses, gloves, hard hat; work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions; cope with job stressors.
- Technical degree preferred.
- Experience working in a GMP or regulated environment such as hospitals, biomedical or pharmaceutical campuses.
- Ability to read and understand repair manuals, specifications, drawings, schematic diagrams.
- Experience using CMMS; EAMS experience a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to obtain a security access badge at the client location.
- Willingness to work overtime, various shifts and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license may be required.
- Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
Hourly: $28.00 – $32.00. The range is a good‑faith estimate; actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, experience and other factors.
