Position Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving conveyor systems and material handling equipment in a warehouse and distribution environment.

The role performs preventive and corrective maintenance activities on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and facility equipment to ensure operational reliability and minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience working with conveyor systems and industrial equipment, can independently perform routine troubleshooting and repairs, and is committed to maintaining a safe and efficient operation. The Maintenance Mechanic works closely with Operations and other Maintenance staff to support equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical components including bearings, rollers, belts, chains, sprockets, motors, and gearboxes.
  • Assist in troubleshooting basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Observe equipment operation and identify potential mechanical failures or performance issues.
  • Remove, repair, or replace defective components to restore equipment functionality.
  • Test equipment following repairs to verify safe and proper operation.
  • Assist with installation and modification of conveyors and related equipment.
Preventive Maintenance
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Inspect equipment for wear, damage, misalignment, lubrication deficiencies, and other maintenance concerns.
  • Complete lubrication, belt adjustments, component replacements, and routine maintenance activities.
  • Document maintenance findings and report equipment concerns to maintenance leadership.
  • Support efforts to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Facility & Equipment Support
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of warehouse support equipment including dock equipment, fans, air compressors, and facility systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance work areas, tools, and equipment.
  • Support emergency equipment repairs and operational uptime initiatives.
Documentation & Inventory
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work order documentation.
  • Record labor hours, repairs completed, and parts used.
  • Assist with identifying replacement parts and inventory requirements.
  • Communicate equipment issues and repair status to maintenance leadership.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all OSHA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, PPE, and company safety requirements.
  • Report hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed safely and according to established procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Qualifications Required
  • 1–3 years of industrial maintenance, manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, facilities, or related maintenance experience.
