The overall purpose of the Housekeeping Assistant position is to perform scheduled housekeeping tasks as may be assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor. This may include mopping, sweeping, dusting, washing windows, shampooing and vacuuming carpets, arranging furniture, and cleaning furniture, equipment, fixtures, and hardware.

• Experience in institutional housekeeping or maintenance is helpful.
• Experience with floor-care equipment is helpful.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.

• Clean and sanitize patient rooms, bathrooms, and common areas daily, following facility protocols.
• Use proper chemicals in correct portions; mop floors as needed.
• Empty trash containers, replace liners, and dispose of trash properly.
• Vacuum carpets as directed.
• Wash and dry windows using proper chemicals and equipment.
• Report repair needs to Supervisor or maintenance.
• Request supplies and equipment as needed.
• Identify and correct safety hazards, following safety rules.
• Review and understand Cantex policies on Abuse Prevention and Patient Safety.
• Attend weekly in-services and comply with Patient Care Management Systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
