Position Overview

The Field Service Technician provides field and inside support activities which include startup and in‑service training, corrective and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and warranty evaluations. The technician is required to provide quality service and support of all Ohio Medical source air and vacuum equipment, medical gas pipeline equipment, components, assemblies, and sub‑assemblies. Follow company ISO, FDA, and budgetary guidelines while minimizing customer downtime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive on‑the‑job training from a Level III FST to perform startup and in‑service training on complex air and vacuum systems, and medical gas pipeline equipment.
  • Perform field service preventive maintenance, component replacement, corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting/repair of in‑house and field service warranty evaluations on Ohio Medical source air and vacuum equipment.
  • Follow all appropriate “Standard Operating Procedures” and “Work Instructions”.
  • Assist in investigations/evaluations and provide recommendations to support company quality policies and procedures.
  • Perform assigned field service work with minimal supervision.
  • Read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and product manuals.
  • Provide support for inside aftermarket sales activities.
  • Work on 75 % pipeline products and various systems along with other manufactured systems.
  • Travel: limited overnight travel up to several days for field service assignments; occasionally short‑notice.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Requirements
  • Professional experience: 2‑4 years electrical/mechanical experience required; customer/field service experience preferred.
  • Education:

    high‑school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or technical certificate preferred.
  • Work to obtain ASSE Med Gas 6040 Certification – Ohio Medical will sponsor if necessary.
  • Language:
    English.
  • Travel: domestic approximately 40 %; international 0–2 %; frequent overnight travel.
  • Must be able to obtain a passport.
Personal Trait Profile
  • Mechanical and basic electrical troubleshooting and repair aptitude, including PLC controls.
  • Pneumatic experience preferred.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license.
  • Positive customer‑relations skills.
  • Good documentation practices and attention to detail.
  • Able to perform work assignments with little to no supervision.
Key Relationships

Internal:

  • Reports directly to Service Manager.
  • Collaborates with Service Technicians for technical product questions, training needs, and feedback.
  • Consults Sales Team for two‑way feedback on customer issues and sales/service opportunities.
  • Coordinates with Service Department for technical product questions, parts identification, and feedback on equipment issues.

External:

  • Communicates with customers regarding issue resolution, service coordination, and service contract opportunities.
