ResponsibilitiesThe Maintenance Manager oversees and performs maintenance operations for a liquid bulk terminal. This role involves directing personnel, contractors, and resources to complete preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on tanks, meters, pumps, valves, piping systems, gear reducers, filters, strainers, vehicles, cranes, forklifts and other equipment essential to terminal operations.
The Maintenance Manager also coordinates the insulation and painting of tanks, piping, handrails and structural supports; manages the cleaning of tanks; and ensures proper upkeep of maintenance facilities, equipment and grounds. Additionally, this position participates in spill response, hazardous and non-hazardous material handling, tank cleaning and other safety‑ and environmental‑related activities.
The Maintenance Manager directly supervises up to six employees and is responsible for training, planning, assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance and resolving issues in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Report maintenance activities, projects and concerns to management.
- Promote and adhere to all safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
- Manage multiple maintenance tasks efficiently.
- Implement and enforce maintenance operating procedures.
- Monitor environmental, health and safety performance within the maintenance team.
- Support the achievement of corporate Quality Management and Food Safety objectives.
- Maintain compliance with ISO Quality and Food Safety Management Systems.
- Ensure product safety for food‑grade operations.
- Schedule, supervise and evaluate maintenance personnel and workloads.
- Develop maintenance operating procedures as needed.
- Train staff, maintain training documentation and coordinate record‑keeping with safety personnel.
- Assist in resolving customer concerns related to maintenance activities.
- Prepare corrective action reports as necessary.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards in maintenance buildings and terminal grounds.
- Verify that terminal equipment and assets are inspected and serviced per preventive maintenance schedules, manufacturer requirements and company procedures.
- Oversee on‑site contractors and obtain project quotes from vendors.
- Prepare and submit cost estimates for maintenance and capital projects.
- Manage inspection, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment, steam systems, nitrogen systems, mixers, compressors and valves.
- Oversee vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance (e.g., pay loaders, bobcats, cranes, man‑lifts).
- Schedule terminal painting and general infrastructure upkeep.
- Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, loaders, torches and lifts for maintenance tasks.
- Inspect and maintain tank foundations, steam coils, vents, relief valves and gaskets.
- Prepare and manage the annual maintenance budget.
- Maintain tools and ensure proper use and secure storage.
- Associate degree or technical school diploma in a related field; or
- One to two years of related maintenance or supervisory experience; or
- Equivalent combination of education and hands‑on experience.
