Overview of Senior Maintenance Technician
Purdue University Northwest (PNW) is seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician to join their team. This positions primary functions will be focused at the Purdue Northwest Impact Lab in downtown Hammond. Typically, time will be split between the Impact Lab and the Hammond campus locations. It's possible for travel to other PNW locations. This position will be responsible for daily overview of the Impact Lab and property.
Exterior will be checked for garbage and debris and cleaned up as needed. Report larger Grounds issues to the Hammond Grounds Manager.
Interior building checks will include general condition, HVAC equipment operation, temperature, lighting and plumbing systems. It is required that this staff member will be skilled enough to troubleshoot and make common repairs independently.
The Impact Lab will only require a few hours per day so this position will return to the Hammond Campus and perform similar tasks with the Maintenance or HVAC service staff.
Pay:
$26.00/hour
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm with occasional overtime

Education of Senior Maintenance Technician
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Two years of experience in basic building repairs and preventative maintenance in an instructional or commercial setting. Working independently with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize tasks under functional supervision and maintain high levels of productivity, with frequent independent work performed on building systems.
- Demonstrated strong customer service and problem solving orientation; seeks to solve problems with a sense of urgency
- Possession of strong mechanical aptitude
- Communicate effectively in both oral and written form
- Maintain work logs
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work assignments
