Summary:
Responsible for maintaining the overall cleanliness, appearance and sanitization of the hospital.
Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of hospital carpet and hard surface floors in rooms and corridors by following a scheduled floor care maintenance program in accordance with standard procedures of the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with North Oaks' commitment to cleanliness.
To maintain a safe, clean area for processing of hazardous waste.

Housekeeping experience preferred.
Previous floor finishing and carpet care experience preferred.
Good Mechanical skills preferred and rotoclave operator preferred.
Must be able to demonstrate: safe and correct handling, measurement and dispensing of cleaning solutions; safe handling, efficient and proper use of supplies, tools and equipment; which are required to successfully perform job duties.
Must be able to work with others in a team effort to complete assignment.
Must be able to read, write and demonstrate comprehension of situations.
Neat, pleasant manner, dependable, cooperative, and tactful.
Physical Demands:
Must be 18 years of age to operate the forklift.
Maintain full control of equipment (motorized or non-motorized)
Consistent use of proper body mechanics in all duties including but not limited to: mopping, scrubbing, sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning, maintenance and finishing floor surfaces and treatments, transporting equipment and supplies, dispensing and lifting and dispensing cleaning solutions.
Requires considerable hand eye coordination in adjusting and repairing equipment and devise.
Frequent walking and climbing of stairs and ladders; stooping and bending and crawling while making repairs to equipment; steady muscular exertion, demanding considerable strength; able to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities:
* Floor Care Specialists:
* Perform hard surface floor care responsibilities following established cleaning and maintenance schedules.
These ranges vary according to the degree of cleaning, intensity of product concentration and mechanical action.
The ranges are:preventative, corrective and salvage care.
i.Preventive Range:
The removal of surface soil, the sanitizing of a hard surface floor or the burnishing of a floor.
ii.
Corrective Range:
The upgrading of a heavily scuffed or soiled floor by removing and replacing the minimum amount of finish necessary.
iii.
Salvage Range:
The most aggressive range in the floor care system.
By using the highest degree of mechanical action, product concentration and time, all of the soil, finish and seal are removed from the floor.
B.Perform carpet floor care responsibilities following established cleaning and maintenance schedules.
These ranges vary according to the degree of cleaning, intensity of product concentration and mechanical action.
The ranges are:preventative, corrective and salvage care.
i.Preventive Range:
Carpet vacuuming which is the most effective and least expensive function to ensure longevity of carpet if performed on a scheduled basis.
ii.
Corrective Range:
Damp Buffing/Bonnet shampooing after vacuuming to remove spots and surface stains on carpet.
iii.
Salvage Range:
Carpet Extraction, the most aggressive and thorough range in the carpet care system.
By using this method, deep seated stains and surface debris are removed from the carpet.
2.Rotoclave Operation
* Processes all hazardous waste daily.
* Monitors rotoclave process:
The operator each month places a new test vial in the rotoclave. This vial at the end of the month will be tested.
The results will provide information related to proper functioning of the rotoclave.
It deems that proper sterilization of hazardous waste after the rotoclave process has been achieved.
The test vial is prepared and taken to Sterile Services for analysis.
* Observes and maintains area and equipment for cleanliness and have repairs made when necessary.
3.Perform cleaning functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using the prescribed method of the 7 step cleaning procedure:
* High dust and dust all surfaces that collect dust.
* Disinfect all surfaces with approved hospital disinfectant.
Clean all furniture.
* Clean and polish metal and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms.
* Empty waste cans, remove trash.
* Dry mop floor.
* Sanitize floor with approved hospital disinfectant.
* Spot clean walls, windows, and polish metal surfaces.
* Replenish isolation supplies when needed.
* Empty needle boxes as appropriate.
* Perform final inspection.
4.Proper use of chemicals including but not limited to Quat and Bleach.
* Check Quat for proper efficacy daily using Hydrion Quat test paper.
5.Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and report breakdowns when necessary.
